What is ITIL?
ITIL is the most widely recognized consistent and exhaustive collection of best practices for IT Service Management. How To Certify?
To enter the world of IT service management, the first core exam one needs to take is the ITIL® Foundation certification exam.
The ITIL® Foundation certification exam is a highly objective exam in which each question is accompanied by 4 available answer options. One of the choices is the correct answer while the rest are incorrect.
Out of the 40 total questions, you need to answer at least 26 correctly in one hour to pass the ITIL test.
There are two routes towards obtaining the ITIL Foundation level qualification – you can sit the exams at the end of a training course with an Accredited Training Organisation (ATO) or Accredited Trainer, or study privately and then book the exam without a training course via one of the ITIL Examination Institutes.
For later levels and exams, such as the Intermediate modules, training via an ATO is mandatory for all candidates. Although the entry-level and the next exams may seem as fairly easy to some, a large number of people fail in their first attempt.

There are four qualification levels within the scheme:

To achieve the ITIL Master qualification, you must be able to explain and justify how you have personally selected and applied a range of knowledge, principles, methods and techniques from ITIL and supporting management techniques, to achieve desired business outcomes in one or more practical assignments.
